Everything You Need to Know about Wallpapers

Recently, the popularity of wallpaper has increased when people began to use decorative walls more often. This trend has led wallpaper manufacturers to introduce new designs, colors, and textures for any part of the house.
Wallpaper is made from various materials, including paper, fabric, and substances like glass, sand, and natural fibers like grass or bamboo. Foil accents and embossed patterns add extra dimension and texture.

Wallpapers have many advantages:
● It is available in various designs, patterns, and surface finishes.
● Some types can last for more than ten years.
● Many wallpaper types are washable.
● It can cover uneven walls and hide defects easily, with little initial preparations.
● Wallpaper comes in a wide range of lengths and widths. How much you need will depend on the square footage of the space you are wallpapering.

● Vinyl
Vinyl wallpaper is the most durable wallpaper option. This type of wallpaper consists of printed paper covered with layered vinyl. Vinyl paper can be used in kitchens and bathrooms, as it can withstand steam. It can also be washed, making for easy maintenance.
Unlike many other materials, vinyl doesn’t contain toxic elements like acetone and turpentine. And so it’s perfectly safe for indoor use for up to 10 years or more.
Vinyl is a versatile material for your kid’s rooms, drawing and dining room, bathroom, and even office. That’s because the material is resistant to moisture and light.

There are some common types of vinyl wallpaper, including –
Paper-Vinyl Wallpaper – This type of wallpaper has two layers: a vinyl face and a back layer of paper. It’s more suitable for the kitchen and bathroom area.
Solid Vinyl Wallpaper – This type is durable and easy to wash as a thicker and more solid option. The material is often embossed to add some artistic value.
Vinyl Coated Fabric Wallpaper – This one is ideal if you want a cheaper and more natural wallpaper.
There’s also fabric-backed vinyl that is incredibly durable. These are made of industrial-strength materials to reduce the need to do maintenance on scratched or torn wallpaper.

● Grasscloth
Grasscloth wallpaper is made from arrowroot, raw jute, hemp, sisal, cork, reed, and triangle grass. The grass fibers are held together with fine thread and are usually hand-woven in Asia. This is one of the reasons that grasscloths cost more than the average wallpaper.
Grasscloth is available in many colors, and its organic appeal makes it an excellent accent wall. However, it’s important to remember that grasscloths cannot be matched at the seams, so each row will differ. Also, the width of the grasscloth is usually wider than regular wallpaper. Grasscloth will be 36” wide, while standard paper widths are 27” and 21”.
Installation is also different. Grasscloth does not come in a prepasted option. You will need to use a unique adhesive to install this starch-based product.

● Textile Wallpaper
These wall coverings are made from polyester, cotton, silk, or other fibers with 15% to 40% interwoven paper. Sometimes, these kinds of wallpaper are laminated onto vinyl coverings. Textile wallpaper styles are fire-resistant and easy to wash. Also, it is made of highly durable and environment-friendly material. It doesn’t create any toxic gases.
